Dosha: Your Personal Energy Signature
In Ayurveda, every being is permeated by a single life energy – prana.
Within us, it takes three different forms, three faces of the same force that drives life.
These aspects are called doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.
Their balance is established at the moment of conception and remains unique to each individual, like an energetic fingerprint of the soul. Each dosha carries a combination of the five elements – space, air, fire, water, and earth – and influences our physical constitution, way of thinking, feeling, and responding.
Everything we experience affects them: how we breathe, eat, sleep, move, feel, and think. Doshas are alive and constantly changing, dancing in rhythm with nature. Their energy shifts throughout the day, as well as through the seasons.
We are all a unique blend of the three doshas, but one or two are usually more dominant. Recognizing your dosha means understanding your true nature – what energizes you, what calms you, and what brings you back to yourself.

The Energy of Movement
Vata is a combination of air and space. It drives all processes in the body and mind: breathing, movement, thinking, and inspiration.
People with a Vata constitution, when in balance, are slender, creative, cheerful, and enthusiastic.
When their balance is disturbed, they may experience restlessness, insomnia, anxiety, fatigue, and a scattered feeling.
What balances Vata?
◎ A regular routine
◎ Warmth
◎ Regular meals
◎ Good sleep
◎ Warm oil massages
◎ Time for rest

The Energy of Transformation
Pitta is a combination of fire and water. It provides willpower, clarity, focus, and digestive fire (agni).
When in balance, people with a Pitta constitution are muscular, determined, intelligent, and fair.
When their fire gets out of control, they may become irritable, aggressive, prone to overheating, and inflammation.
What balances Pitta?
◎ Harmony
◎ Moderation
◎ Cooling
◎ Light foods
◎ Time in nature
◎ Letting go of control

The Energy of Stability
Kapha is a combination of earth and water. It provides structure, lubrication, strength, and immunity.
When in balance, people with a Kapha constitution are strong, calm, compassionate, and steady.
When Kapha dominates, weight gain, lethargy, or a tendency toward excessive sleep, overeating, and comfort may appear.
What balances Kapha?
◎ Movement
◎ Warmth
◎ Dynamic activities
◎ Warming spices
◎ Light diet
◎ Mental stimulation
