Ayurveda: A Natural and Holistic Approach to the Human Being
Ayurveda was born from the silence of ancient Indian sages who, by observing nature, discovered its laws of balance. It is the knowledge of life – ayur means life, veda means knowledge – about how we can remain healthy, aware, and connected with ourselves.
Although thousands of years old, Ayurveda still speaks the same language today: the language of the body, breath, and nature.
The Mother of Prevention
Ayurveda does not only teach us how to treat illness, but how to prevent it and maintain vitality, peace, and clarity in everyday life. Its message is simple: live in harmony with your own nature and with the nature around you. That is why Ayurveda relies heavily on daily and seasonal cycles in nature, as well as those that unfold within us every day.
We are part of nature – the microcosm of the macrocosm – and reflect its laws.

When our balance is disrupted, illness arises. We are beings of change, and it is perfectly natural to occasionally fall out of balance. In Ayurveda, illness is merely a signpost pointing to what we need to pay more attention to – always involving the mind, spirit, and body as a whole. Therefore, if we only take an Ayurvedic remedy without addressing the root of our issues, the results will be limited. The plant always contributes, but we are the ones from whom the change must come.
Knowing Yourself
Of course, this is much easier when we understand who we are – what energies we are made of, our constitutional type, or dosha. When we get to know our nature, our prakriti, we come to understand all that we are. For we are not just a body; we are also energy, emotions, thoughts, and spirit. There are many layers to us, and Ayurveda has always taken them all into account.
What modern science is only beginning to discover, Ayurveda has known and applied for millennia.
When you understand your elemental balance – your unique combination – you truly get to know yourself. You learn what brings peace to your nature, what energizes you, and how to nourish your body, mind, and spirit.
Three Doshas – Three Expressions of Life
There are people who create, imagine, draw, and write with ease, yet tend to be a bit scattered. Others turn every idea into action effortlessly, always finding the most efficient plan. And then there are pure hedonists – the ones you go to for calm, a hug, and a sense of solid ground.
Place these three types of people at the same table and serve them the same meal. It won’t suit everyone the same way. Some adore salads and fish, others prefer warm soups and stews, while the third group enjoys everything but quickly gains weight in the hips and belly.
Everyone is different, and different things work for different people.
That doesn’t mean they shouldn’t come together and share the same meal.
Ayurveda is preventive, but not exclusive. When you mostly live in harmony with yourself, you understand the importance of flexibility – and that sometimes, it’s okay to “indulge.”

What does an Ayurvedic consultation look like?
An Ayurvedic therapist approaches a person on multiple levels. They do not focus on the illness, but on the individual in front of them – how they look, the condition of their skin, tongue, and joints. How they live, how they eat, what troubles them, and what their interests are.
During an Ayurvedic assessment, everything is taken into account. That’s why the first session typically lasts between one and one-and-a-half hours. Through conversation, questionnaires, and careful observation of the body, the therapist gains insights that are then formulated into personalized recommendations – recommendations that are always as unique as you are.
Ayurveda teaches us that nothing within us is wrong – it is merely sometimes forgotten or out of balance.
